Charlie - Part 2

March 2006 saw the release of Fightstar’s first full-length studio album Grand Unification which once again received positive feedback with Kerrang quoting it as ‘one of the best British rock albums of the past decade’.

Their next album One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours was released by independent label Institute Records although it peaked at number twenty-seven in the UK Albums Chart

The bands third album Be Human was self-funded and co-produced by the four of them in 2009 and became their highest charting album - reaching number twenty in the UK

At the start of 2010, Fightstar announced they were taking a short hiatus allowing members of the band to work on different projects. It was during this time Charlie went into the studio to begin recording his first solo album Young Pilgrim . This was was later finished in February 2011 and finally released in August of that year.

Whilst fans were waiting expectantly for the full album, they did receive a free copy of When We Were Lions - Charlie’s debut EP - on Christmas Day 2010.

The first track to be released from Young Pilgrim was Down Down Down which received its first airplay on the 11 th of April as Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton’s record of the week. The single was officially released on 16 th of May.

In 2012, Charlie broke a world record playing the coldest gig in Northern Siberia which reaches temperatures as low as -30 degrees. It took four days to arrive at the spot which was sponsored by drinks label Jagermeister. He also released a cover of Santa Claus is Coming to Town and gave it away as a free download on his website.

In the summer of 2013, Charlie performed for the first time as a solo artist in the US during the Vans Warped Tour.

Later in 2013, Charlie went on tour with Deaf Havana, an English alternative rock band from Norfolk. During the tour he previewed some new music alongside songs from Young Pilgrim.

Despite not joining the McBusted boys on their short UK tour in 2014 Charlie still cashed in, reportedly earning himself a whopping six figure sum purely for giving up the rights!
